Keys and Stix festival

Keys and Stix Festival is the first to exclusively feature piano and drums duets, as well as variations there of.

The event aims at providing a a platform for already existing duets, but also at inspiring others for innovative input in that direction.

Since the format shapes the profile of the festival and removes the focus from stylistic identity, practically any keys-and-stix duos ranging from improvised avant-garde jazz to contemporary, classical, electronic or ethnical can contribute to the affirmation of the idea.

The debut of the festival took place in 2008 in a rather informal atmosphere at the Mellotone Studios, Amsterdam. Then followed two editions in 2011 and 2012 in collaboration with Bimhuis, Amsterdam and Unterfahrt Munich.
